A friend is selling a Samick GOM 100 S/N - I'd appreciate any info anyone might have on these guitars. It is orchestra-sized, with  a solid spruce top and a compensated bridge saddle. It plays…Continue

"Yup, Recording King - I have a RO-10, a 000 bodied spruce over mahogany, all solid woods. It is, for a $400 guitar, amazing - plays and sounds better (to my ear) than some of the Big Three with an extra 1 in front of the price. The Recording Kings…"

"For me...and only for me...lighter is much, much better. I don't play professionally, and I have left-hand issues that make the lightest possible strings best for me. I'm also spending 99.9% of my time fingerpicking (not well, mind you) -…"

I do get to Newfoundland once a year.  I have a grand daughter in St. John's and Maggie and I go down each fall.  My son is a cook at the Cathedral Street Bistro.

Blackback Gull, I will give it a shot, and let you know.  It would be nice to play somewhat pain free, huh. ;-)  Thanks!

Richard ... I saw your e-mail message to the group.  I could be wroing, but I think you have to have "friended" members before a message will ge through.  The mssage wouldn't let me reply to you.  Suggest you put the question directly on the forum for everyone to see.

I uses "Elixer nano coated light gauge phospher bronze" strings and I also use a product called "Fast Fret" which is a string lubricant.  Doing this has not totally eliminated string "squeak", but it has cut way down on it.
