Hi, Shane,
Saw your video on fingerstyle players group. Had a good time seeing it, and got convinced of the excellence of your thumb and index technique. Now, what do we have in common? I too make my own instruments, and the kind of instrument I play is to be played only with thumb and index, just as you may see in the videos I posted in my page. Apart from that, the musical styles are very, very different. Now, let me tell you: I was raised in Angola, Africa. Down there, kids make their guitars, too, but not with cigar boxes, they use olive oil cans, which are about the same size. But the sound they get is more like banjo... Another funny thing: the best wood to make cigarboxes is a kind of cedar called cedrela odorata. Keeps the smell and the flavour of your cigars. Now, that is precisely the same wood that top-class classic guitar luthiers choose to make classic guitar necks. Stable and lightweight. Funny, isn't it?. Hope you enjoy my videos as much as I enjoyed yours, and sincere congratulations for your very nice job (instrument & playing).
