New Tab Breton Dance

This is an unnamed Breton Dance that appears in several tutor books for violin. I heard my wife's fiddle students play it and thought a simple classical/finger-style guitar arrangement of it could work. Here it is no technical challenges for most pickers. Please do not republish this arrangement without permission. Enjoy

The embedded tab is on my Home Page on this site.

New Tabs Blind Mary and The Slave's dream

On my home page you will find a tab for Blind Mary. Blind Mary is one of Turlough O'Carolan's lovely melodies composed for harp. It translates really well to the guitar. Here is a simple arrangement. I put it in D as that is the key my wife plays it on fiddle. This is an easy arrangement but there are a few ornaments that may need work. Please do no re-publish this version without my permission.

The Slaves Dream is a lovely 19th century song melody which was preserved as a folk tune… Continue

Restringing for Baritone.

The Joys of restringing. Had a beaten old Maton. I just strung it baritone.
Now a whole new spectrum of tone colours has become available. Also it has made the body more alive for taps etc. I love this new sound. The interval relationships are the same but the very difference in tone suggests new ideas for attack and phrasing.

Recollections ; 'John Fahey Live In Tasmania".

Recollections. John Fahey 'Live in Tasmania'.

It was 1980 I think, my memory is not precise. The Live album, John Fahey's first truly live one according to some sources, was released by Takoma in 1981. John was brought to Hobart, Tasmania, by a local music store owner and guitar music enthusiast Stephan Markvitch.

John was keen to come to Tasmania; apparently because the impressions he had gained from the Bugs Bunny cartoons featuring Taz, the Tasmanian Devil, had made its seem alien,… Continue

Incidentally... the album version of 'Samphire' is on my music player - don't know whether you noticed it down there. I think AGC should have had the music player further up the page.

Original recording of Samphire was done in a higher key. Can't remember why I lowered the capo for the home vid - it was that long ago! Thanks again for the comment. :)

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the encouraging comment :) You're a fine player too! Admire your ability to play different styles. I'm a bit of a one trick pony :) ...well, .. a few trick pony maybe :)

I must apolologize for what  I said. I figured out you were American, and I didn't realize your solidarity was meant for people in disaster areas in Australia. Please forgive my lack of attention. And... thank you for your comment on my music.
