Olav Loef commented on Steve McCoy's group Acoustic Bass
"Not on 29", Edward!  30" and 32" I´ve made fretless. Hard to compare when the 30" was much of a testbass. I love the "closeness" in the sound of the 29" Bass! With the right strings it is much more…"

"It's beautiful Olav!  Have you ever made a fretless bass?  If so, does the shorter scale work well for a fretless?  Thanks, Edawrd"

Hey Steve,
Did you ever hear from that guy who, in his member page picture, looked like he was playing a sunburst mando like yours? His name is Dale VanCleef and I saw his site and saw your message asking if it was a Rhapsody...I friended him and he never responded! Just curious...it sure did look like yours only sunburst! Ed

Steve,
The mandolin in that picture is an old plywood POS that a guy loaned to me 30 years ago... then he moved away. It says GLOBAL on the headstock. It had damaged tuners and no nut when I got it. A "qualified technician" grooved the zero fret while trying to get the nut right. I usually only use it (and my Martin Backpacker) in camping situations. --Dale

Hey, Steve,
You should join the mandolin group...you have a unique mandolin and even though there are a few members, the discussion is skimpy! Let me know if you decide to opt in! Ed
