Hey, Steve
John Cage, I Ching, prepared piano...like you, I hold those things dear to my heart. But no, in this case CAGED refers to the interesting patterns that are formed on the fingerboard around those chords, and all due to how standard tuning is set up. It can be a mind-expanding concept to a player, and I like to think that I bring some unique insights to the whole thing.
I bet you'd like the practicing ideas, too. Well, one of these days we'll cross paths. I'm pretty certain of that.
BTW, any suggestions of workshop venues in your area?
Take care, my friend.

Henry Miller. Yes. The Rosy Crucifixion was a life-changing work for me in my 20s. To this day, purely from a word-flow point of view, there are three guys who I can crack at virtually any page to get a good jolt--Miller, Bukowski, and Kerouac. I must point out that the thing I get from each one has little to do with the common perception of them...
Now that sounds like a college lecture. The point is that I love these guys.
All the best to you, Steve.
