Some of this tube vs. solid-state volume may be due the clean vs. distorted tone, but I think some of it is also due to the other variables already discussed. I have a 50-Watt Mesa/Boogie DC-5 that is probably has a louder clean tone turned to abo...

Wattage alone doesn't tell you very much about actual volume of a guitar amp. Besides being only one spec among a system of components that lead to the final sound, some manufacturers also rate their products more optimistically than others. Even ...

Have you tried contacting an Epiphone dealer, or perhaps even the UK distributor directly? Another option might be to get in touch with Shadow, who I think made the electronics for those guitars. Shadow is a German company, so they may have a fair...

I love this song. It's great to see you perform it after listening to it off the CD.

Great stuff and beautiful shots, Teja. Healdsburg gets more astonishing every year. This last couple of Healdsburgs my distinct impression has been that - strictly overall - lutherie has really caught up with cabinetry. A couple of times ago I rem...

Healdsburg Guitar Festival 2009

With this being Back to School season, I feel a bit like talking about “What I Did Last Summer.” Without a doubt, one of the guitaristic highlights was attending the Healdsburg Guitar Festival in August. Now held in Santa Rosa, California (just a few miles south of the original location in Healdsburg, California), the biannual festival turned the city’s Wells Fargo Center for the Arts into a custom guitar and guitar music temple for… Continue

More News from Summer NAMM

OK, so here's the follow-up to last weekend's Summer NAMM posts. I don't know what I was thinking that I could get them up on the first day back in the office, so please accept my apology for being a day late...

The Czech Republic’s Stonebridge guitars have been making a splash with fingerstylists such as Antoine DuFour and Richard Smith, and now the company has added to its already extended lineup of models. A new Maccaferri-styl… Continue

Summer NAMM Bound

Myself and several other Acoustic Guitar staffers--including fellow Senior Editor Scott Nygaard and Editorial Director Dan Gabel--are headed to Nashville, Tennessee to attend the annual Summer NAMM show, which starts Friday, and goes through Sunday. Summer NAMM of course is the slightly smaller version of the primary Winter NAMM show (held in California in January), and it is where many of the industry's main manufacturers and distributors… Continue

A Visit to Goodall Guitars in Fort Bragg, California

I took a drive up the lovely Mendocino coast to visit Goodall Guitars’ new shop in Fort Bragg, California, a couple of weekends ago. From 1992 until late last year, Goodall was located on the Big Island of Hawaii, and became closely identified with their ex… Continue

12-String Mania

I’ve been immersed in 12-strings for the past few weeks, the main reason being an upcoming review of six such instruments in the August 2009 issue of Acoustic Guitar. Following the format of our recent reviews of dreadnoughts and mid-size guitars, the article will feature six guitars ranging in price from $330 to $3,900. Frequent AcouContinue

Teja

I just noticed the event with Tim Sparks. Unfortunately I'm at the other side of the world, but I would encourage other players in the area to check this out. I have a number of Tim's albums and appreciate his playing.

Teja, I will check out your playing, where's the best place to hear it?

Hello Teja,
Just a short note to tell you that I really appreciate Acoustic Guitar Magazine, your reviews and your playing.
When the magazine arrives here in Italy it is celebration time...every time!
Best regards

Teja,
It was nice meeting you at NAMM and I hope you enjoy the K-Lever Capos. If you have any feedback on them, I would love to hear it.

Hey Teja--
Thanks for the add. Been reading your articles for quite a few years now, and have heard many good things from Mr. GLJ.
Love that 12-string on The Groomsmen. Cheers.

Teja,
If you're at the Winter NAMM Show in January, please stop by the Kyser Capo booth. We are releasing the new K-Lever series of Partial Capos. Drop D, Double Drop D, DADGAD, and Open G, and all four feature the K-Lever. Some of your guys have seen the prototypes at the last couple shows and seemed to like them quite well. I would love to meet you and give you a set of them.
Hope to see you in Jan.

This afternoon I watched a few of the videos you have posted here. Thank you for sharing. I enjoyed the performances, and watching you play. Something to which us new and learning players might aspire ... though I am not sure I have 30 years in which to perfect my own style. lol
