"Yes I'd heard that Mick Taylor was doing guest spots at some venues. IMHO that period was the height of the Stones. Great songs and the edge that Taylor added just blew everything else out of the water. He was in the band when I saw them in…"

And the band played on!

My last blog outlined how the band line up had finally fallen into place, it's been almost a year since and I'm tickled with the progress we've made.

We spent about three months honing our repertoire when the drummer popped up with a gig.… Continue

Here we go again!

I've blogged about my fairly recent band experiences and this is yet another.

Ever since the drummer and bass player walked out on us we've been contacting and auditioning players. CraigsList is where I find musicians because frankly,… Continue

Because you are my friend.

This past Thursday my longtime friend and I went and performed at an open mic.

My friend, Roger, who I’ve posted photos of and written about here, taught me how to play bass guitar back in the day. We were in bands together throughout high…

Thanks Terry. You can tell I am a newbie just commented to myself! Get a blood test done to check your rheumatoid factor/level. Early detection can help or prevent twisting of your fingers. I've got or had a great rheumatologist but he's retiring in July. My fingers swell and get very painful but no twisting of my joints. Meds aren't fun but tried all the natural stuff but no go with RA. Fingers are so swollen today as it's 41C here!

Totally agree my friend.  I've always believed and lived by "laughter is the best medicine!"  8-)

Thanks Terry!  It was originally written just to test something, but it kinda grew on me and made me laugh, so I posted it.  8-D  Gotta have fun and laugh at yourself sometimes right?

Well, kudos to you for putting it out there....takes a lot of courage and dedication, and having a group of stars doesn't hurt either.

have fun!

Well, that makes you a real guitarist....and it sounds like you may have a good group on your hands.

Best of luck getting it all together and makin' music.....should be fun!

Nope, no 12-string yet....but too busy to even play my 6-string right now, so that's okay. It was ordered 8 days ago and the shortest delivery is about 2 weeks.

As far as my guitar skills, they are pretty ordinary. I can chord just about anything if it's in simple format and I do a little finger-style stuff, but I mostly play so I can sing and those who listen say I sing pretty good. Who am I to argue. I am, however, working on playing better, especially finger-style/Travis style.  I was recently diagnosed with arthritis in both hands (nowhere else) so that cramps my style a lot. It's a great challenge at 56, but great fun.

I hoping to put up a video of me doing a song or two in the next 3-4 months.....we'll see how that goes.

How about you....what are you up to?

At 11:45am on January 9, 2013, Alan Edmunds said…

Well, I'm glad your guitar is as good as new...or better.

Hmmm, not sure my guitars play as well as they look when in my hands, but I have a great time playing them. Looking forward to getting my new 12-string in a few weeks.

Thanks for the invite...accepted, of course. And, again, sorry about Lou. Has the repair happened?
