"Welcome aboard! Yes there are a ton of lessons on YouTube and here as well. Nice thing about AGC is the multitude of varying level players are happy to share and answer questions. Your history sounds very similar to mine! Learned most of what I know…"
"Paul thanks so much for the positive reinforcement of my thoughts about the local shop vs. the big guys. I do extend my beliefs to other retailers as well. I refuse to shop at Walmart and discourage my wife to do the same. I am not going to dictate…"
"I don't live anywhere near here, being from England. I enjoyed reading this post though, as I think it is extremely important to support local shops of any kind. Local shops can offer so much more than franchise corpoarate monopolies that are…"
Thanks Terry. You can tell I am a newbie just commented to myself! Get a blood test done to check your rheumatoid factor/level. Early detection can help or prevent twisting of your fingers. I've got or had a great rheumatologist but he's retiring in July. My fingers swell and get very painful but no twisting of my joints. Meds aren't fun but tried all the natural stuff but no go with RA. Fingers are so swollen today as it's 41C here!
Nope, no 12-string yet....but too busy to even play my 6-string right now, so that's okay. It was ordered 8 days ago and the shortest delivery is about 2 weeks.
As far as my guitar skills, they are pretty ordinary. I can chord just about anything if it's in simple format and I do a little finger-style stuff, but I mostly play so I can sing and those who listen say I sing pretty good. Who am I to argue. I am, however, working on playing better, especially finger-style/Travis style. I was recently diagnosed with arthritis in both hands (nowhere else) so that cramps my style a lot. It's a great challenge at 56, but great fun.
I hoping to put up a video of me doing a song or two in the next 3-4 months.....we'll see how that goes.
