Like wise one of my guitar heroes. Fantastic technique without compromising on musicality. There are a lot of exceptional tappers out there but to often the music seems to take a back seat.

Rule of thumb: slacker strings need more compensation. If the compensation on your Breedlove was working when you tuned down a half step, I would expect it to play flat as you went up the neck when tuned to A440.

Who Am I and What do I Play?

When people ask me what I play, I usually say "I try and play the same as the rest of the band." I play numerous styles with and without plectrum. "Who Am I?" " I'm Tony Hogan, a guitar player who lives in Australia who has played for 40 years, studied jazz guitar with Ike Isaacs ( think Grapelli Quartet with Diz Disley,; Martin Taylor ) and I also studied with Ashok Roy a senior student of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. I run a couple of Acoustic Guitar Blogs Acoustic Guitarist and the Guitars and they have had over 350,000 visitors, so I guess they must be of relevance to other players. I also have an electric guitar blog as well, I'm hesitant to mention it for fear of upsetting the Acoustic Guitar Demi Gods Electricguitarist
Because I play numerous styles, the benefit is if I get a bit musically dry I can jump into another area of music and quickly be inspired. Celtic, Open tunings, Blues Folk, Bluegrass and other styles. Music, ultimately is about feelings, emotions. We need a great technique and a certain amount of virtuosity to be able to express these emotions to the fullest,

HELP!!!! Blogging and Being Social - Anybody Out There?

As a Guitar Blogger who has written hundreds of articles, not only on guitar but other topics, over a two year period I've had close on 400,000 visitors to a few of my blog sites, as I see it as a great way of communicating and quickly getting stuff out there, I also run an IT Social Network for Web Development. In this time I'm learnt a lot about what works, what doesn't, and how people respond.

As a rule, persons over about 30 generally need to be guided in interacting on the web. That… Continue

DADGAD Arrangement TAB and Notation - Gypsy Rover

I have just reposted a DADGAD of Gypsy Rover which I did a couple of years ago. It's simple and straight forward. Share it with students if you like or build it into an arrangement with variations. Click to go to article DADGAD Gypsy Rover

Add a Little Jazz to Your Acoustic Guitar Playing - TAB and Music Sheet

I've uploaded a simple Chord Doco using triads for those guitar players wishing to add a little jazz style accompaniment to their playing. It is in TAB and dots. I learnt this technique years ago from British Jazz great Ike Isaacs. I had uploaded previously to the web, but in an oversight I called it 1 6 4 5 progression because I used one of my other templates.

I have found this sort of playing very useful for accompanying singers. Using the triads allows for greater mobility and also the added… Continue

A Guitar Players Nerd and Geek Moment

I have had two computers have problems in the last 3 weeks. As I also work in the IT industry, a quick reminder to back up any of your work, particularly your music that you spent hours recording and editing.

As I just spent the last hour and a half fixing a TC Electronic Sound Card issue and have lost a little hair in the process, I thought it would be a nice idea to remind other guitar players that bypass these thought of things consider the option creatig duplicate copies saved elsewhere.… Continue

Gurian Guitars Anyone?

I have a Gurian guitar made around about 1980. When Pierre Bensusan saw it, he sad that he recorded his first album on the same model. Also some years ago in a Stefa Grossman book, he had also recommended them. Does anyone else here play one?
