Folia by Arcangelo Corelli

'I obtained from the Biblioteca Nacional in Mexico a colonial manuscript of baroque guitar music which contains a fragment (about the first 90 bars) of a follia by Arcangelo Corelli (1653-1713). I have reconstructed it for baroque guitar, and also have made an arrangement for classical guitar. I have posted a recording of it made with the… Continue

Zavaleta's New Website

We have launched our new website. While I am continuing to add some content, the new site is functional and current. The new website was designed by son, Henry Greenberg. As we are continuing to make improvements, I would greatly appreciate comments and feedback.

I have been lucky enough to own a Ramirez class 1A concert guitar for forty years. When I concentrate on my flamenco guitar for long periods and eventually return to my Ramirez, I find that it takes many hours of fine tone playing to elicit the full potential of the instrument.
Romantically, I feel that a molecular change occurs... Perhaps similar to the school science experiment of inducing magnetism by stroking a piece of steel with a magnet...
I'd appreciate any comments you have on this?

You have a wonderful 'stable' of historic guitars, thoroughbreds all - the names read like poetry!
I'm sure that you must have a similar list of talented players to keep all of them playable...?

Thanks for the offer, I would love to investigate your old guitars further, but right now am not in the financial position to do so. Perhaps in the future. Your music is so gorgeous and so inspirational to me. Have a great year! xx Linda

being a 1970 model doesn't add to the value, or did you already factor that into you estimate of street value. thanks for info

Hi and thanks for inviting me...you have a very special sound, lots of beautiful old guitars and obviously a true passion for the guitar. If you would ever consider selling any of your old guitars, please let me know.
Kind regards,
Linda

I love my Aguilarte, but even when I bought it I knew I loved the sound but that the neck would need some work. I figured that Yuris Zeitlin would be able to take care of it, which he did beautifully. Now it's very easy to play and sounds lovely. Dan Zeff told me that he checks in on Juan's instruments from time to time, but hasn't found one that worked for him. Similarly, a student of mine went to Granada and bought one of Juan's guitars. At first I felt bad because I didn't like the sound of it at all. Six months later it had opened up and proved to have a wonderful sound. Guitars are a bit like wine in that way, I guess.

Cheers,
S
