Thanx for this Donna! i found you post very encouraging.
maybe because i did play clarinet from 6th grade to 10th i'm not as impatient with myself to "get better NOW". i know i gotta put in that "sweat equity" and that takes time and years.

i put an upper button on the "heel" of my acoustic. my original strap had been tied to the headstock, but i wasn't feeling it that way. my guitar teacher was nice enough to do install the heel button for me and i quite like it there.

Strap Lock
product review - revisited:
i purchased this strap loc a few months ago. it worked fine on the butt end of the guitar. on the upper end it never laid flat the way i thought it should, but it held the strap in place...until last night wh…
So what is on your plate for this year? I'm concentrating on the blues both acoustic and electric. I'm also going to try to play a little blues harmonica.
Cute doggies in your photos - I have five (2 chihuahuas, 1 toy fox terrier, 2 shar pei mixes) and one black cat.
Hi Ebby,
Thanks for the nice welcome. A fellow Floridian, I see.
Sorry to hear you had to suspend your lessons. Maybe you can look at it as an opportunity to focus on practicing chords. I find my "muscle memory" for changing chords is always lagging far, far behind my music theory education.
I had an achievement last night; put strings on my guitar for the first time.
I was certain I'd make a mess of it. I assumed it would turn out like most of my home projects, i.e., worse than when I started. I was astounded when the guitar actually sounded better. Hugh
Thanks - it's been my internet nickname since 1988. Marlowe's Faustus is great, but at the time I was reading Thomas Mann's. I need a nickname for a BBS (sort of a precursor to the web) and thought the name worked. Which part are you trying out for? And thanks for the good wishes, tough times to be looking for a job!
Not sure I ever will be able to play effortlessly but one of the locals, Billie Joe Shaver is missing a large part of two fingers on his strumming hand and still plays. If you do not know who he is check: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Joe_Shaver
Perhaps he does not play as well as he writes but he is far enough along now to have others play for him if he needs it. Talk about a dreamer this guy is one. He may well give you a little inspiration too
Nice pets. My Seamus the Irish Terrier should be on my profile somewhere. Sorry to hear about your medical bills getting in the way of your learning. There is a lot of free stuff online, however. Let me know if you are into delta blues - I saw a brilliant set of lessons on youtube the other night!
Are those your pets? They are real beauties. We have four dogs. Mickey like my guitar playing -- he's half deaf. Bella loves my singing, she must be deaf and crazy!
i'm really bummed...somehow i deleted my discussion "where are the guitar gurls" and the few others i'd started. thought i was deleting a 2nd profile i'd created but deleted the wrong one...oiy
