I know of three other ppl. besides u, (and me ) :) that have one. Two r left handers. The right handed one someone offered him $2,000 fer it and he wudn't take it.
Mine projects well has a very warm sound that I like. The action is very low tho sp the low E has a bit of a rattle. My saddle is not solid like u'r's. The saddle doesn't fit the grove completely and there is a thin shim behind it. Mine has the individual saddles fer each string. Not sure if it was changed'er not. They look whiter then the nut, so maybe. I haven't checked with the ppl. I know that has one to see what they have yet. I'm wanting to order one and some bone string pins as well.

I just wanted to report in that I changed strings this past weekend on my D-16GT to the light strings you suggested and am completely blown away by the difference, not only in the sound, but also the feel! It now plays like butter.
Many thanks for the tip. I don't imagine I will ever go back to mediums.

Thanks for the input Mark.
My strings will be due for a change in about a month and I think I may try some custom lights that I have laying around the house which I used on my old Yamaha. I think the difference between lights and custom lights is .001 on the 1st string.
I'll let you know what I think once I change them out.

I enjoyed your videos very much.
I am also the proud owner of a D-16GT. It's a little over two years old and seems to sound better every day. I have never tried anything other than medium gauge strings. Are you using light or custom light? I may have to give them a try.

Brian said… - You ask if there is a massive difference between the D15 and D28. I feel that there is in both build quality and sound. The D15 is made of Mahogany and plays softer. Some say that it plays back onto you and makes for a good recording guitar. The D28 on the other hand is much louder and more detailed in all its sound. IMO

I am very pleased with my koa Yairi; it's beautiful and is the nicest guitar I've had the chance to become really familiar with. I like the way it rings out when thumb-plucked, though I have been mainly finger-style for 40 years.
When we stayed in the dominican Republic for several months, we heard a lot of the traditional music played on the tres, which contrary to its name now has either four or five strings. I almost bought one in Puerto Rico! They are tuned GDAEB which would be interesting to fool around with, but because I live aboard a boat I just couldn't find the room just for novelty's sake.
