Are you using coated strings? The coating fills in the gap between the windings making them slicker as well as retarding oxidation grit.

- Greetings Velvy...welcome to the AG community..here it's all about the music, writing it, singing it, sharing it and more. in response to your "sticky strings" problem at outdoor summer gigs...I use fast fret which seems to work pretty good at removing prespiration build up and it slicks up the strings pretty good. I also keep a wipe down cloth in my case lightly treated with polish that use on the whole guitar before and after each set. hope this helps,
