Guitar at Work (or School) - Week 1 - Posture

I've started a series of posts called Guitar at Work (or School) where I'll be sharing things you can do while sitting at a desk, during your lunch break, or even while watching TV, to help improve different aspects of guitar playing. Week 1 is on posture.

Good posture is a basic element of guitar playing and is very important regarding the long term effect it will have on your back, shoulders, etc. If you're a beginner guitarist, you may find…

Fretboard Visualization...

This is just a tip for players ready to explore more than the beginning chord shapes and who are wanting to gain more facility in soloing...

Thursday "tip"

Share a new skill with another person, even if they do not play guitar.  By showing someone else the new skill you are reinforcing the skill for yourself and ~ bonus ~ you'll probably inspire them to play guitar!

It was an odd site, the audience were mainly kids from our school, dressed in homemade tie-dyed T shirts and loon pants, while at the same time, there was Mitch, bedecked in a light pink suede leather jacket, snake skin boots and bullet cartridge belt, with…

Thursday "tip"

Choose and learn a song with a loved one (spouse, child, grandchild, boy/girlfriend, best friend, etc) in mind.  Our inspiration can come from others' likes, needs or our relationship with them and you'll find more motivation to play it ~ plus...they'll feel the love!

The workshop was a 2 hour Q & A type of workshop with about 50 people in attendance. …
