Thanks for joining us in our Acoustic Guitar Clubhouse opening party! Today, we're encouraging you to add events to the Club calendar. These can be gigs you're playing or attending, upcoming music festivals, workshops and camps, or any other guitar-related event you think your fellow Club members need to know about.
And while Friday is the last day of our week-long house-warming session, activities will continue here at the Clubhouse. Check in often for updates about upcoming…

I get a kick out of having to make do when the right gear isn’t around.
The band I play with tends to be a pretty rowdy bunch, sonically speaking. But we still embrace acoustic textures regularly. And last night we were moved to explore some of the acoustic-based numbers we’ve been prepping for our new record.
Ordinarily, I throw the soundhole pickup we have lying around into whatever acoustic happens to be at the studio that night and plug it into our PA. It’s safe to say…

As the managing editor of
Acoustic Guitar, I’m lucky to get the opportunity to wade through hundreds of new CDs every month. Some of those albums find their way into our Playlist section, others are reviewed in the AG Notes: Reviews and Players Edition e-mail newsletter (if you haven’t signed up for it, go to www.acousticguitar.com). Like any true music junkie, I am happiest when I get to geek out with other music fans. So here’s what I’ve been spinning recently (and what I’m looking…

Day four of our Clubhouse opening party is about creating affinity groups within the Clubhouse so like-minded guitarists can find each other, interact, and commune around specific guitar-related interests.
There are already a few groups started for flatpickers, fingerstyle players, songwriters, and folks engaged in home recording. Join those groups, and create others based on your favorite style, or on particular guitar-related activities you'd like to delve into with your fellow…

The
Acoustic Guitar video studio has been buzzing with activity in the last few weeks, so I thought I’d report on a few things that are soon to be featured in the magazine and at
acousticguitar.com. To most of us here on staff, one of the most satisfying aspects of the gig is that we’re often able to work with and listen to great artists, and the last month or so has brought us an embarrassment of riches.
The recent string of players…

Lest we forget, the point of it all really is
playing the guitar. So on this third day of the Clubhouse opening party, you're invited to share video or audio files of yourself picking away.
We don't need major-motion-picture quality clips -- footage of you in front of a webcam or at your local coffee house gig is fine. And the Clubhouse has an audio corner, too, so you can upload a track from your latest recording. Just use the opportunity to share what you play with your…

Just wanted to say something about the things I'm singing. Mostly what I do is to take scripture that I enjoy or that is shared with me and put it to music. I have found that making up tunes to Bible verses is a joy. I sing these all the time.
I don't do professional recordings. Most of this is just so I can go back to hear the songs if I forget how to play them. I could spend more time polishing them, but usually I'm already onto another song. Most recording I do is thru a Snowball…

Thanks for joining us in the Acoustic Guitar Clubhouse! This week is our grand opening bash, and we'll be hosting daily events so you can get to know your fellow Club members, and make the Clubhouse a place of your own.
Today, get your profile set up and add a photo so we can spot you from across this crowded guitar-filled room. In the coming days, Club members will be creating and joining affinity groups (like the Flatpickers and Fingerstyle Players groups already started), sharing…
