I have a knowledge of music and chord structure. Not in depth, but enough to know that a chord is built on the Root, the 3rd and the 5th...sometimes even the 7th. I am still learning the Shapes and this has helped me immensely learn where the notes are on the Fretboard. (It ain't like a Piano keyboard where they repeat in the same place every octave!!!!) I am also learning Arpeggios and how they are played within a song..ala Jazz, for example.
