Has anyone traveled with a guitar under the new rules since the terrorist tried to take down the Northwest flight on approach to Detroit? With the new restriction to one carry-on bag, it appears that if you travel with a carry-on guitar, that's the only carry-on bag you get to take. Has anybody tried it?

I have a Gibson L-50 in reasonable condition and it sounds great. Need the tailpiece strap button. Any ideas on where to get one and what the guitar might be worth? It's a 1953.

We all have had many guitars but it all started somewhere. That first guitar was the beginning or for some the end of a love story. For me it all started in 1975. It was my 9th. brithday and my mom and dad got me a brand new guitar I dont remember the name but it was a full size dreadnought. I loved that guitar and many hours were passed trying to learn to play it. Now my parents had the ideal that I could play any insterment put before me(not so) it would have been nice also if they would have…

My first guitar was a used Strat replica. I bought it from a neighbor in Albion MI; the date must have been around 1970. My friend Jerry sold me a guitar and amp, for about $20 dollars. I played that rig from high school until college. I never got very good; I just played to tunes on the radio and record albums.
I joined the Marines and only played guitars off and on for several years. I was still not very good at it. Then in the eighties I started playing again off and on, using the…

He's coming to Nashville in February and I'd love to meet him. He's one of my guitar inspirations and I've met a bunch of them already. Just looking forward to meeting Clapton, if possible.

Brief History
Most RainSong guitar necks feature our signature "Shark" inlay.
Originally, when RainSong Graphite Guitars was still in Maui, Hawaii, we started using Dolphins as inlays. Within a few months we were asked to "cease-and-desist" by another guitar maker that claimed to own rights to the use of Dolphins as guitar neck inlays. Rather than incurring the legal expense and time delays to fight the claim, we looked for other inspirations from our beautiful…

Aided by the proceeds from my eBay sale (see previous post), and throwing my usual caution and frugality to the wind, I just made my first major guitar purchase since my '74 Guild D50 (yes, it was actually bought in '74). I brought home Charlie Hoffman's 2009 Healdsburg Festival Small Jumbo. It was built with madagascar rosewood back and sides, a bearclaw sitka spruce top, a bevel edge, and a sound port and I had Charlie install a K&K trinity pickup.
It can be seen in all its…

Several weeks ago I made my first, and probably last, eBay sale. I sold my 40 year old Harmony by Heath electric semi-hollow boy guitar. It was played for only two years (high school "rock" band) and was in mint condition. I found an eager buyer who gave me a great price and it's now making music in New York City, as it was born to do, instead of sitting in the closet.

I just found an interesting way to promote your music. This site allows people to download one free song (your song), for "tweeting" your song information to their network. I'm giving it a try - as it sounds like a possibly good way to get the word out about my music. I figure you other guitarists might like to know about this.

2009 has been an interesting year. As a sole proprietor trying to survive in the current economic environment, times have become very challenging. Two years ago, things were very good. But, the local economy in south-western Montana has felt the impact of what's going on across our nation and in our world. Businesses that have been alive for over a decade have closed their doors, as have many newer businesses. This causes my business to suffer, as I have lost so many customers. I am not sure if…

Well, I've not been doing as much music this year as I had hoped. But, there are a few tunes that I've worked hard at. One of them is "The Offering" - come take a listen and let me know what you think. This song does an interesting key change. I really enjoyed crafting this one.
"The Offering" can be heard at my profile. You can vote for it from my page at

Happy holidays.
