Feria de Abril - Seville. Lots of "cante", flamenco guitar and dance

Feria de Abril 16-21 April 2013

Seville has duende this week as guitarists, flamenco groups and singers gather together at the annual April Fair for a week-long party. Flamenco in its original form was only cante (voice), a primitive cry or chant accompanied by the rhythm of a wooden staff, beaten out on the floor. The guitar entered flamenco as an accompanying instrument only two hundred years ago. Flamenco guitar is smaller and lighter than the classical guitar, the flamenco guitar…

Reasons to buy a guitar at www.guitarfromspain.com

Reason 1: Authenticity

The market, and particularly the web is flooded with guitar stores that promise to sell "Spanish guitars" or classical guitars made in Spain. Some of them even have spanish names but the reality is that they are made in China, Indonesia or some other far east countries. That should not be a problem as long as you know what you are buying, where is coming from and accept they limitations. Some other stores have a mix of products,…

Building My Guitar Cont... The Sides Are Bent

2/28/13,  I finally made it back to Arc Guitars Building School to work on my parlor size guitar.  Due to other conflicts such as a snow trip I have not worked on the guitar for about 3 weeks.   Needless to say its nice work on this project one more time.   I also brought my Martin OOO in for help installing a Miniflex Mic.   A special thank you to Al for helping me get that thing installed.  The hole at the end pin was too small and needed to be enlarged with a router. Al also made some…

Awesome Acoustic amplifier!! Genz Benz Shenandoah

Here's my latest blog on the Genz Benz Shenandoah amplifier!

Hey Guys,

I've been a big AER fan for many years and still love it! I love its size and its clarity and sound!

Recently I got the Shenandoah Compak 300 and it plain rocks my socks off. I hate to say it, but the AER is in the bag and the Genz Benz is getting used at the moment.

Along with my Bose L1 model 2, this combination of amplifiers is full-filling and sweet!…

Thomas Michael Reviews About His Zager Guitars

A number of years ago when I started my initial search for a quality guitar I came across the Zager site and was intrigued by the guarantee and the reviews of people with advanced ability who had nothing but praise for the Zager

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?

That is a difficult question to answer as my other guitar is a ZAD80,…

Singing Skype's praises for delivering music lessons (video)

Skype has done wonders for connecting people around the world. We see it in schools, where a class in California chats with kids in Chile. Of course we see it in the home, where grandparents and grandchildren can catch up on the day's events over a meal together. And now we're increasingly seeing music instructors use the videoconferencing technology to offer lessons to students around the world.

Our video team at CNET connected with a Nashville, Tenn., based guitar teacher named…

ZT LunchBox Acoustic Amp ** 200 watts packed in a small lunch pail size body

Now carrying an Amp will never be a burden. This one weighs about 12 lbs and has a really small footprint.  This amp is incredibly versitile as it can stand alone in a small to medium  venue or be used as a monitor. The sound is clean and full - no garbage pail like sound or that irritating hissing.    I also love the fact it has two channels.  It also has a aux and fantom power...   Wow,  well thought out!   I own a…
