I purchased used a Batson guitar used. The workmanship is close to perfection and design is very unique. Check out the Batson website - you cannot help but be impressed and perhaps drool a little. If you have a chance to play one, don't miss out on the experience. With no question, you will find this guitar in a league of its own. The specs on my instrument are as follows
Port Orford top, Cocobolo back and sides
Walnut binding and bevel
Ryan Style bevel
Ebony bridge, faceplate, tailpiece and fretboard
One-piece mahogany neck
K&K Pure Western Mini pickup
1 7/8 Ivory nut
2 5/16 saddle spacing – saddle is also made of Ivory
14’’ lower bout
25.5 scale length
14 frets to the body
Original Ameritage hard case with Batson logo
Gotoh 510 Cosmo black tuners
Once I adjusted to the wide neck I found the playing to be very comfortable and forgiving! I call it my comfort guitar because I can wrap around it with ease andt the tone is rich and soothing. My fingers feel like they are dancing on the fingerboard. ...and the smell of the wood is wonderful, the cedar smell is extraordinaire. This guitar is definitely a winner and a lifetime keeper for me!
This instrument was custom made for another player, but if I were to order one new today I would not change any of the appointments. BRAVO to the Batson maker!!

Comment by CSerway on September 16, 2012 at 6:35pm Lance, I first played a auditorium size Batson in Monterey California... I watched your videos playing and was impressed .. added to my desire to have one... I probably would still not have one if I did not come across this used one. Your playing is awesome and inspiring. I love the peaceful sound that your music brings. I call it "comfort guitar" - much like a favorite food it very pleasant to hear. Thanks for sharing the video's on You Tube.
