Spent a couple of hours at our local Guitar Center playing Martin guitars. What a great Saturday morning!!! Came away deciding that my favorite was the HD28 with a low profile neck. Though, as I looked around for GC price beater, I saw the D-21 Special that has the 'missing' features I'd like to have on a Martin, like the butter bean open back tuners, and the pyramid bridge. A slotted head would be nice too. At any rate, since I have the opportunity to finally add a Martin to my meager family of guitars, I'm still trying to decide without having the benefit of actually playing a D-21 Special. The D-18GE I tried had the same neck, I think, as the D-21 Special, and it was not comfortable to play, and it did match the tone of the HD-28 I tried out.
Ah, decisions decisions...
