When Acoustic Guitar Community launched, I was very excited to find a guitar community online with so many tools and so much potential. Really, it is quite a thing to have such a fully featured social community site dedicated to all things acoustic guitar. But besides Acoustic Newb, a lot of the activity seems to have left the site. The last Acoustic Guitar blog post on the main page is from the middle of February, and the groups I belong to that in the past this time of year have been busy with festival, workshop and event announcements are now wholly quiet (I belong to Midwest Acoustic Pickers and Buckeye Pickers). Community member blogs have become more sparse, forum traffic down.
Just . . . what happened? Did another more awesome site pop up? I've looked on Facebook for similar content and found very little. Google+, for all its potential, is a ghost town. I just don't get it because I feel like the traffic had to *go somewhere*, but it is just as if it has evaporated into the ether.
I tell you what would probably spruce the place right up, build on the Twitter integration and have more social media integration. Take a page from the io9/Kotaku/gizmodo family of web sites as far as their user integration with Facebook/Google+/Twitter and expand your online presence dramatically. Kongregate, which very much reminded me of this site in that it is a self-contained gaming community, is finally jumping on and integrating more. Don't let this site become an isolated island in a sea of connectedness!
