Yes, it is an amazing story...and yes, guage makes a big can warp up a neck or have a bridge pull up and off if you go from extra-light strings to medium strings! Any change in guage should be follwoed by a trip to the local guitar tech to set everything up again. I also saw both Santana guitars and Howard leese (lead guitarist of Herart) guitars in Paul's shop at some point. I saw and played a double neck that Paul's apprentice made that went to Neil Shoen. My musicial partner's son-in-law works for him now. It's amazing to watch someone go from a local hero to a national figure! I am humbled to have been there...all by chance. Edward

You love Nancy Wilson...
Have you seen this article from the Martin website...

Being a guitarist and a Marylander I was friends with Paul Reed Smith BEFORE he became a big factory guy, I am still friends with him but you can't get time with him anymore, and for good reason! I used to go to his little repair shop in downtown Annapolis to get him to do repair work and wake him up asleep on the floor of his shop. Last time I saw him he had just returned from Japan after a meeting with Yamaha and looked really bad. Anyway, the first time I saw him he was raving mad because he had built an electric 12 string for Nancy Wilson and her Roadie put too heavy gauge strings on it and warped the neck, and they sent it back to him to repair. So I got to see and touch Nancy Wilson's guitar. Edward

Yep, that looks identical to my 1978 Custom Balladeer! Wow and for only $300 bucks...unbelieveable that's what I paid for mine brand new with case in 1978! Thanks for sharing and keeping my in the loop! Edward
