Recorded by people like Bobby Darin and Frank Sinatra as "Beyond The Sea" - with words totally unrelated to the original French, this wonderful song by Charles Trenet and Albert Lasry was written in 1943 and published in 1945. There have been innumerable versions of this song but, for me, the original recording by Trenet has never been bettered.
I'm playing it here on tenor guitar with guitar chord backing. The tune is in F and modulates twice - the first time briefly into A and then, also as briefly into C before returning to F for the final chorus. I've played the whole tune through twice and have included the original introduction - played slightly off-beat for fun. In this video I'm concentrating very much on tone production with the tenor guitar, rather than any clever or not-so-clever improvisation.

Sincere congratulations! This really is one of my favourites, and yo do play it in the proper mood! I believe Trenet would like to hear it..
