Dear Vongibson,
Thank you! When I originally arranged this tune I was playing a cutaway and so I did the first part of the "do-do-do" way up on the dusty part of the fretboard. Now I just play that part all in first position, which is much easier and sounds better, anyway. I like your playing of "Blackbird." Very true to the original. I love that tune, too, although I can't sing it in G so I've arranged it in D. I'll try and record it sometime. Keep up the good work! - LJ
PS - I think the magazine ought to sponsor a Beatle's song arranging challenge, with the best ones being put on a CD or DVD, don't you?

Dear FusionArtist,

I try to make a living with the guitar. When you add up the gigs with teaching and some writing, it's almost a real job. As I'm sure you know, the pay scale hasn't changed in decades! - LJ

Wow, very nice. I'll have to say that is the most inventive version of that song, I've ever heard. I liked the way you incorporated the middle and last sections to keep it fluid.

Thanks, Denny. The guitar is made by Kirk Sand, an incredible luthier in Laguna Beach, CA. Check him out at - It's the finest flatop I've ever owned. - LJ
