I use the capo mostly to take away some of the sustain of the open strings. It allows you to play with more dynamics. It's harder to play an uncapoed open string soft than it is to play a capoed open string hard, if that makes any sense? Just easier to play with a softer touch I think.

Jeff, it sounds really nice! Very warm and comfortable feel...

Are you capoing at the first for the tone! I always wonder when I see a capo on the first fret, because that 1/2 tone for me doesn't seem that significant. At least, to my "old" ears...
