I use D tuning for most of the stuff I play on Weissenborn. Peador O'Donnell was an activist/writer political figure in Ireland who was active in the IRA. I learned this tune from the back pages of Acoustic Guitar from a feature article they did with Jerry Douglas back in the mid-late 1990's. I think Jerry learned the tuned from an Irish band called Moving Hearts.
