Hey, Soul Sister Chords

Hey, Soul Sister is a famous song by Train, a rock band from the United States, and was written by Patrick Monahan, Espen Lind, and Amund Bjørklund.

The song belonged to the fifth album of the band, namely Save Me, San Francisco (2009).

The song is a mid-tempo pop-rock song. As it was written in the key of E major, the beat moves at 97 bpm and is set in common time. It is illustrated by a signature pattern played on a ukulele, following a primary E5- B-C # m-A progression in the verse, tag, and bridge, which switches to an A – B – E5 – B progression in its chorus.

The chord structure of the song is set in an A B A B A B A form. Also, it rhymes the word “sister” with “Mr. Mister.”

As soon as this song debuted, it reached No. 3 on Hot 100 Ranking on Billboard. It is also the song of Train that achieved the highest position in the ranking to date. Some achievements of the song include:

  • In 2010, it became the top seller on iTunes Store as well as the No.2 overall best seller in the United States.
  • The most successful song of the band to date with the records of ranking No.1 in sixteen countries.
  • In 2012, it received a 6X Platinum Certification by RIAA, with 6 million copies in sales.
  • Notably, Train achieved an award for this song’s live iTunes version at the 53rd Grammy Award.

Regarding the band Train, it is a rock band from San Francisco, the United States, established in 1993. It currently includes lead vocalist Patrick Monahan, guitarist Luis Maldonado, bassist/vocalist Hector Maldonado, guitarist/keyboardist Jerry Becker, drummer Matt Musty, backup vocalists Sakai Smith, and Nikita Houston.

With a lineup comprising of original members Rob Hotchkiss, Monahan, Scott Underwood, Charlie Colin, and Jimmy Stafford, the band gained success in the mainstream with the debut album Train released in 1998 with a hit named “Meet Virginia.”
