Wish You Were Here is a famous pop song performed by singer Avril Lavigne in her fourth album Goodbye Lullaby (2011). RCA Records produced the single as the 3rd and final song from the album on 9 September 2011. Avril Lavigne and producers Shellback and Max Martin are the ones that wrote this song. As per the sharing of Lavigne, it reflects her vulnerable side. Soon after the release of the single, it was well-received by music critics and fans.

A music video for the song was released by Dave Meyers and debuted on 9 September 2011. Lavigne shared that the music video was not similar to her previous work. And then it gained a handful of positive reviews from critics that highly evaluated the portrayal of emotions of Lavigne, and considered it as dark. Lavigne also added this song to her tour, The Black Star Tour setlist.

When it comes to the singer, Avril Lavigne is a Canadian-French songwriter, singer, and actress. When she was 15, she already debuted with singer Shania Twain. After one year, she had a agreement in recording two albums worth over $2 million with Arista Records.

She released her first album, namely Let Go, in 2002. This album incredibly helped her gain Pop Punk Queen thanks to her impact and achievement in the music industry. Since her debut, she has sold over 40M albums as well as more than 50M singles all around the world, which make her rank No.3 in the list of best selling female artist of all time in Canada, following Shania Twain and Celine Dion.

Notably, she was increasingly famous for the single Complicated, which ranked No.1 position in various countries over the world. Accordingly, she became the youngest female solo singer to own a UK’s No.1 album.
