The Only Exception is a beautiful ballad by Paramore, produced by Fueled by Ramen in 2010 as the 3rd single from the album Brand New Eyes released in 2009 of the band. Two members Josh Farro and Hayley Williams, are the authors of the song. Also, Paramore is credited as co-producers to the single. Generally, it was well-received by various music critics, which reviewed that the song was a different musical them for this rock band.
The Only Exception became the most successful song from the band’s 2009 studio album Brand New Eyes, which ranked No.1 in Rock Chart in the UK and respectively gained its peak at No.13 and No. 17 in New Zealand and Australia. It was the 3rd of five Top 40 hits of the band to date on the Billboard Hot 100.
Notably, a music video of the single was unveiled on 17 February 2010 through the official website of the band. It was also nominated for a Grammy Award in the category of Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. Besides, it was the most famous song of the band until the launch of Ain’t It Fun in 2014.
According to music critics, Paramore that usually create and record darker material had gone in a different approach with The Only Exception. Also, American magazine about popular culture Rolling Stone evaluated that the single was “a subtle, Radiohead-esque ballad.”
Regarding the American rock band Paramore, it debuted in the year of 2004. The members included frontman Hayley Williams, drummer Zac Farro, and guitarist Taylor York. Farro and Williams are considered the band founding members, while York joined in 2007.
Additionally, Williams is the only one that was listed on the recording contract of the band with Fueled By Ramen, a rock music record label owned by Warner Music Group as well as the only one to appear on 5 studio albums of Paramore.
The band unveiled the first album named All We Know Is Falling in 2005 and achieved some achievements such as No. 30 on Billboard’s Heatseekers Chart in 2006, and No. 4 on Rock Chart in the UK in 2009.
